6 Friendliest Characters in Games

Here are the friendliest characters in games where you might not otherwise expect to find them. Oftentimes, video games have characters who’re antagonistic and really not very pleasant. It’s rare when NPCs truly act like a bro and these six are real friends.

The Giant Blacksmith – Dark Souls

Don’t let his big, tough, and mean look turn you away. He’s a really good person and one of the friendliest and most loveable characters in the FromSoftware gaming catalog. He’s somewhat reminiscent of the Giant Blacksmith in Elden Ring, who’s also very friendly. But many Dark Souls players hold this dear blacksmith as one of the most adorable NPCs in the games so I included him.

Alvor – Skyrim

Alvor is the village blacksmith of Riverwood and he radiates dad energy. He’s a nice guy who teaches the Dragonborn all the basics of smithing and even gifts him a dagger and a helmet.

Other than that, he also lets you stay in his home as a close friend, despite meeting you not hours earlier. That outcome is only available if you escaped Helgen with the Imperial, though.

Kazuma Kiryu – Yakuza

Kiryu is another character who looks mean and tough at first, but the more you get to know him, the more you’ll understand how kind and caring he is. He’s the quintessential video game hero, despite having close ties to the Yakuza.

Kiryu’s a patient and calm person who’s not to be underestimated because of his demeanor. He even had an orphanage where he cared for a lot of children like each of them was his own.

In Yakuza 0, he’s quite naive and has issues with patience. But as the story progresses in each game, you can see him evolving into a better man. In fact, he doesn’t hesitate to help even strangers; although sometimes he does find people annoying.

There are almost no instances in the Yakuza franchise where he’s mean to someone. Even if he were, he quickly apologizes as a real man should.

Ciri – The Witcher 3

Ciri is one of the major characters in The Witcher 3 who’s also playable in some quests. Despite being the heiress to Nilfgaard and possibly one of the most powerful characters in The Witcher franchise, she’s always humble and graceful.

She has a lot of friends throughout the game. There’s even an entire quest dedicated to her to pay the friends who aided her back. Ciri also seems somewhat of a naive person because she’s sometimes even too friendly.

Jorge – Halo Reach

Jorge is not very talkative and he wields a huge minigun while wearing extremely heavy armor. However, since the very start of the game, you can see how Jorge is way more compassionate and caring towards others – including his teammates – as compared to other members of the squad.

He stays true to his comrades at all times and he’s a beast when it comes to combat. Jorge is definitely one of the friendliest and nicest characters in the Halo games, although it would be a stretch to say Jorge is why Halo: Reach is the best game in the franchise since Halo 2.

Ezio – Assassin’s Creed

At the beginning of Assassin’s Creed II, Ezio is a playboy who’s always up to mischief. But as the game progresses, he evolves into a man full of compassion and wisdom. In the events of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Revelations, he’s reached his peak.

I don’t think there are any other assassins who are as intelligent, skilled, and wise as Ezio is. He’s incredibly calm, even in tense situations. His years of experience have not only made him a force to be reckoned with but a hero with a strong sense of justice.

All throughout the games, you can see how patient and calm he is with each of his missions, and he helps others without expecting anything in return.
