Activision Celebrating Bond’s 50th Anniversary with 007 Legends

Activision officially announced the latest James Bond video game this afternoon: developed by Eurocom (responsible for Wii’s Goldeneye 007), the brand-new title – dubbed “007 Legends” – will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the world’s favorite smooth-talking MI6 agent.

007 Legends will include an all-new storyline related to six different James Bond films. Activision has only confirmed Skyfall – the upcoming Daniel Craig film – as one of the six, but it would be an educated guess to assume that there will be one film featured from each of the six major Bond actors (Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, and Craig), perhaps even using the likeness of each respective actor.

“To honour 50 years of the world’s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet,” said Activision Publishing’s EVP David Oxford.

“Creating a videogame storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions our developer Eurocom has pulled it off.”

Legends will feature the “MI6 Ops Missions” from 007: Reloaded. Players will be able to assume the role of a Bond hero or villain as they “…[relive] the missions through their eyes, as well as 007’s.”

Finally, the game will offer four-player split-screen local multiplayer, in addition to its online multiplayer component. You know, because it’s not really “classic Bond action” without a couch and three buddies sitting around the same TV, shooting each other for hours on end.
