DS Lite Big Winner in June

Not to be outdone by the PlayStation Portable, Nintendo released a remodeled version of their Nintendo DS handheld called the Lite in June 2006. According to sales from NPD, the system sold well, coming in at 600,000 units for the month, which includes figures from the original Nintendo DS. That puts the system well above the Xbox 360’s 277,000 for the month of June. Total dollar amounts for the industry in June (hardware and software) in the United States amounted to $844.5 million, an increase of 25%.
