The Location of the Rose Church
I assume that many of you who are reading this article are mainly here for the location and the associated quests of the Rose Church in Elden Ring. Here’s the location.
It’s situated in Liurnia of the Lakes, south of the Academy of Raya Lucaria.
Quests associated with the Rose Church
There’s only one quest that is associated with this church, and that’s White Mask Varre’s questline. He will move here after your first encounter with him at the First Step Site of Grace in Limgrave, just after exiting the Cave of Knowledge.
He will be at Rose Church, and he will give you a Festering Bloody Finger. You will then have to invade three times using this. Note that using the Recusant Finger to invade does not apply to the completion of the quest.
Your victory or loss does not matter to the quest either, as you only need to invade. It’s even possible to simply use the Finger Severer to leave the invasion just after entering another world. Basically, use the Festering Bloody Finger to invade. That’s it.
Enemies at the Rose Church
This area is relatively free of monstrosities that try to kill you. Relatively, because there are a few Albinaurics and a Lesser Sanguine Noble in the church. This Noble is quite difficult to kill, as he skilfully uses his Reduvia dagger and the rapier to inflict Bleed damage on you. Upon defeating him, there is a chance that he’ll drop one Bloodrose.
Notable Items in the area of the Rose Church
You can find Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook along the southern walls of the church, which allows you to craft Cursed Blood Pots. An attentive player will not miss it.
After invading three times using the Festering Bloody Finger, you must return to the church to continue Varre’s questline. He will give you the Pureblood Knight’s Medal if you accept to be knighted.
You will also obtain the Lord of Blood’s Favour item at this point. You must then soak it with a maiden’s blood to progress the questline. The easiest way to do this is to soak the cloth with the dead maiden’s blood at the Church of Inhibition.
Other than those, there are Bloodroses for you to farm here. That’s it for the items.
Lore
Rose Church appears to be completely devoted to the worship of the Lord of Blood, as everything you find in this place relates directly to the Mohgwyn Dynasty. And the presence of the Sanguine Noble only fortifies this, as he’s a worshipper of the Lord of Blood.
Two of the items you obtain from Varre, namely the Lord of Blood’s Favour and the Pureblood Knight’s Medal, have distinct and clear carvings/engravings associated with the Blood Lord.
