Square Enix announced on Friday that sales of Final Fantasy VII Remake have exceeded five million worldwide. The figure includes both physical and digital sales.
“Having achieved exceptional digital sales since its release, this milestone makes the game the highest-selling digital release on the PlayStation platform in Square Enix’s history,” the publisher said.
The FFVII Remake launched earlier this year exclusively on PS4. The classic RPG – which came out back in 1997 – was completely rebuilt and re-imagined on modern hardware. The reviews for the remake were mostly positive, although Drew notably disagreed with the consensus.
The launch has been a multimedia affair, too. There’s the limited edition vinyl soundtrack. Plus, coming out later this year are the Final Fantasy VII books. So fans still have more to look forward to (not to mention this game is just the first installment).
