Game of the Year Tournament Underway

Three years ago, a tradition began. The best games from the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox fought each other in a tournament of 32 teams. Super Mario Sunshine came out victorious over Metroid Prime to win the first Game of the Year Tournament. In 2004, we expanded to 64 games. With a Final Four showdown between #1 seeds Pandora Tomorrow, Burnout 3, and Half-Life 2, along with #4 seeded Need for Speed Underground 2, the result was a resounding 3-to-1 victory for Half-Life 2 over Pandora Tomorrow.

This year, the most impressive list of games to date make out the Game of the Year Tournament 2005. #1 seeds include Resident Evil 4 (GCN, PS2), Shadow of the Colossus (PS2), God of War (PS2), and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS). Other noteworthy games include Forza, Gran Turismo 4, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Brothers in Arms, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, SOCOM 3, Burnout Revenge, and Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap. Who will win this year’s tournament? No one knows. But one thing is certain: you will be the one to decide. The Game of the Year Tournament 2005 has begun. Exercise your right to vote!
