Amid declining sales revenue, profit and interest in their Wii console, Nintendo has declared victory over their two main console rivals while warning of an impending threat from the makers of the iPod. Whether that declaration of victory is premature is yet to be known. However, sales of the Wii have declined by 21 percent, an ominous sign for the company.
One thing is clear: Nintendo sees Apple as the “enemy of the future”, according to a report on the UK’s Times Online. The company fears that key demographics are more interested in owning an iPhone or iPad than they are a Nintendo DS. The company plans to release a 3D handheld next year. Not all of its functional capabilities are currently known, so a curveball feature is not out of question.
