Now you can play Fortnite without even installing it thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Microsoft has partnered with Epic Games to bring Fortnite to Xbox Cloud Gaming. This means that fans can play the popular free-to-play shooter on Android and iOS smartphones or tablets, or a Windows PC through a web browser like Chrome or Firefox.
“This is just the beginning for us,” says Catherine Gluckstein, Vice President and Head of Product at Xbox Cloud Gaming. “We’re going to learn, implement feedback, and in time look to bring even more free-to-play titles to players through the cloud.”
Browser-enabled game streaming is free with Xbox Cloud Gaming in 26 countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, and the UK. Support was recently added in Mexico.
It’s important to note that no installation or memberships are required. All you need is a Microsoft account. Once you’re signed in, you can go to Xbox.com/play on your web browser to start playing Fortnite. It’s easy to jump in and play with native touch controls or the Xbox Wireless Controller.
