Did you like Resident Evil: Revelations? If so, it might be time to start getting excited: rumors suggest that Capcom is already thinking about a third Resident Evil title for the 3DS.

The rumor originated from Digital Spy but has since been removed – it suggested that the game is tentatively called “Degeneration-Damnation-Downfall”. Apparently, “Degeneration” and “Damnation” are two movies that are included with the game, and “Downfall” is the actual subtitle.

Moving on, Downfall is said to take place between the events of RE5 and RE6, with Claire Redfield serving as the protagonist, apparently set to “witness the downfall of humanity”.

Well, that certainly sounds intense, doesn’t it? What are your thoughts? Resident Evil: Revelations was one of the 3DS’s first big games of 2012 – as you can see from our full review, and the final score of 9.2/10. Of course, the game may not have been so great if Capcom hadn’t given the 3DS a “test run” with Mercernaries 3D in the earlier months of the handheld’s life.

Though it isn’t related to Resident Evil, one of my first thoughts was simply, where the hell is EA?! Why haven’t we heard anything about a Dead Space title for the 3DS, or even the Vita? If Resident Evi: Downfall is indeed being developed, Capcom could have a three-game lead over EA’s competing franchise on the 3DS – this makes me wonder what the competition has up its sleeve, if anything at all.
