Rumor (Update): Konami Prepping Two Castlevania Games For E3 2012?

We reported rumors earlier this morning about the possibility of a new Castlevania title for the Nintendo 3DS, but if the new report from Paul Gale Network has anything to say, Konami is actually prepping two brand-new Castlevania titles for this year’s E3.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2

Obviously, the first is the 3DS installment – Mirror of Fate – as we detailed earlier.

The second is apparently the follow-up to 2010’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, not-so-cleverly titled Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. The game is being developed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Vita, and Wii U, according to the Paul Gale Network findings.

The site may not sound like the most reliable game-related source, but keep in mind that these were the same people who outed Title Fight (now know as PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale) last November.

The report goes on to say that Mirror of Fate has been in development for a year and a half, and features two different playable characters as well as cooperative play.

“The forward-facing camera will act as a mirror and the outward facing cameras will come into play for a new puzzle-solving mechanic.” Apparently, the Wii U version of Mirror of Fate was also in development, but Konami opted instead to release Lords of Shadow 2 on the next-gen Nintendo console.

“More interestingly perhaps was the idea that Mirror of Fate on Wii U would be the same game as its 3DS brother, treat the U-Control as the 3DS’ bottom screen and your TV as the 3DS’ top screen, be able to play the game across both platforms, use the Wii U’s forward-facing camera as a mirror to ‘capture your reflection and reveal your fate’, and so on.”

E3 is coming up on June 5, so these rumors will be coming into fruition (or fading away) soon enough. What do you think? Are you a fan of the classic Castlevania series?
