Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice sells 5 million copies; new update adds boss rush mode

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has sold over 5 million copies since launch. All of those fans can look forward to a new update coming soon. Among other things, it adds a boss rush mode.

The free update, which is available starting on October 29, includes three new features. The first is the aforementioned boss rush mode. There are also new costumes and a new system to record messages for other players.

Boss Rush

The boss rush mode is divided between Reflections of Strength and Gauntlets of Strength. Reflections of Strength lets you rematch any of the game’s previously-defeated bosses. Meanwhile, Gauntlets of Strength is a series of single-life challenges that throw multiple enemies at you in a gauntlet.

Remnants

“Remnants are recordings of what a player does in-game for up to 30 seconds at a time and are available for use after the game’s tutorial,” Activision says. “After a player records their Remnant – whether it is an epic takedown of an enemy or a flawless demonstration of a tricky movement technique – it can be uploaded along with a written message so that other community members can play it back.”

New Outfits

The update has three new costumes. Two of them are unlocked through the gauntlets. The third is unlocked from just beating the game once. These are purely cosmetic in nature and do not give you any in-game boosts.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launched on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in April 2019. The game sold 2 million copies in its first 10 days on the market.
