Sonic the Hedgehog LEGO set brings Green Hill Zone to life

LEGO is showing its gamer side more and more with new video game sets.

In the previous two years, LEGO has chosen a different path than we are accustomed to. Instead of producing set after set of popular movies or television shows, the Danish business has begun to offer video game sets. With Mario already uncorking the bottle and the advent of the LEGO NES special edition, they surprise us this time with the introduction of a LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog set built for hardcore fans.

The LEGO Ideas platform allows us to uncover some people’s brilliance when it comes to creating LEGO items, giving them the chance to become a reality someday. That’s exactly what occurred with the Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone set, which was approved by the LEGO Group in February and now has a release date.

The Sonic set was created by Viv Grannell, a 24-year-old enthusiast from the United Kingdom, and includes a reproduction of the saga’s renowned Green Hill Zone level. It comes with 1,125 pieces to build the level, as well as five tiny figurines of Sonic, Dr. Eggman, and other iconic foes, as well as boxes containing golden rings and a lever to make Sonic leap.

The set’s approach is similar to the LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Mario Starter Course, which we previously discussed here on Game Freaks 365. However, if we look at the intricacies in this new Sonic set, we can see that considerably more care has been devoted to the minutiae than in the previously stated Mario set.

The Lego Ideas Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone set is available for sale starting January 1, 2022. It retails for $69.99.
