Netflix pleasantly surprised me this past summer when they released The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, a prequel to Jim Henson’s dark fantasy The Dark Crystal. Now the universe is expanding beyond film and television to video games.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics has you lead a fledgling resistance and restore light to Thra. The game has 15 playable characters as the Gelfling rise up against their oppressors, the Skeksis. Among them are a number of familiar faces from the film and Netflix series including Rian, Hup, and Brea.
The game has more than 50 unique turn-based tactics RPG battles. Along the way, you will “recruit and customize new allies by assigning them jobs, modifying their abilities, and outfitting them with equipment to ensure victory,” developer Bonus XP says. They are the studio behind Stranger Things 3: The Game.
We don’t yet have an official release date for Age of Resistance Tactics, but we do know that it is coming to PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One later this year. Publisher En Masse has also released a new trailer, which you can watch below!
