Some armaments make games feel like a walk in the park. Here are the ten most overpowered weapons in games. Most of these weapons are from RPGs and they can be upgraded for great effect. Some of the entries will also be from more linear games, however.
10. Rivers of Blood – Elden Ring
One of the most loved or most hated weapons in Elden Ring. It’s too overpowered, many players straight up diss others who use this Katana, especially in PVP. It’s somewhat understandable, to be fair.

With this, you can rip through bosses and PVP matches are nothing. The Ash of War attack of this weapon is the real deal. It can basically kill many enemies with a single attack.
9. Aerondight – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Aerondight is the best silver sword in the game and there are multiple features that make it so OP. The best thing about the sword is how it scales along with Geralt.
If you kill an enemy when the sword is fully charged, the attack power permanently increases. No other silver sword can match this, and a skilled Witcher who wields this is like a tsunami for monsters.
8. CZ57 Avenger – Fallout New Vegas
The Avenger is a unique minigun that boasts the highest damage per second out of all the weapons in Fallout New Vegas. It fires continuously, as expected from a minigun, and basically rips through anyone and anything that is unfortunate enough to stand in your way. Pair this with Power Armour and you’ll be an unstoppable tank.
7. Auriel’s Bow – Skyrim
Auriel’s Bow is one of the major items in the Dawnguard DLC and you unlock it through the main quest. We all know that stealth archer builds in Skyrim are basically unstoppable. You’re like a sniper that can pick enemies off even before they know what hit them.
Killing dragons is also ridiculously easy with bows. Auriel’s Bow is the single best bow in the game and it can utterly destroy enemies.
6. Energy Sword – Halo 2
The Energy Sword is the single most powerful melee weapon in Halo 2, and yes, there aren’t many. Halo 2 is somewhat fast-paced so it’s easy to charge at enemies with this.
A single hit from the Energy Sword can kill almost any enemy. In fact, it’s so overpowered that you’ll be an unstoppable machine. This is just as effective in multiplayer as well.
5. Dragon’s Rancor – Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen
Dragon’s Rancor is one of the late-game weapons in Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. It’s wildly powerful. If you get it to the Dragonforged level, you have your hands on a missile launcher, not a bow.
There’s a way to make this bow even more broken: Blast Arrows. If the Arisen has a stash of Blast Arrows to use with this bow, then it basically is a missile launcher.
4. Black Knight Halberd – Dark Souls
The Black Knight Halberd is one of the most powerful weapons in Dark Souls. It becomes really overpowered after upgrading it to the maximum level and putting a lot of points in Strength. While other Black Knight weapons like the greatsword have similar stats, the halberd is superior in terms of reach. It’s for good reason why many speedrunners consider this as their weapon of choice
3. BFG 9000 – Doom
You can get your hands on BFG 9000 in the mid to late-game sections of Doom. It’s a sight to behold. It fires a rare type of ammunition, and you cannot use the gun more than say three times before the ammo runs out.
That being said, one hit can eviscerate about five demons. That applies to even the most powerful ones, like Hell Knights.
2. Dawnbreaker – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Here’s another great weapon from the brilliant Skyrim. Dawnbreaker is a one-handed sword that deals fire damage along with physical damage. Get the correct perks and level your character up to a considerable level and you’ll tear through enemies like they were paper. It can be obtained by the Daedric quest about serving Meridia.
1. M488 – Just Cause 3
Just Cause 3 is a playground for gamers and the amount of mass destruction you can cause is incredible. M488 is a missile launcher that can and will eviscerate entire groups and even platoons of enemies with a few well-placed shots. This is undoubtedly the most powerful weapon in the game and it really sparks the chaos up.
