A Total War Saga: Troy will be free at launch

A Total War Saga: Troy

Sega and Creative Assembly are launching A Total War Saga: Troy this summer. And they’re doing it in a rather unorthodox way.

The game will release exclusively via the Epic Games Store on August 13. But that’s not the unusual part. A lot of games have been exclusive to EGS in the past year or so, including several big-name titles.

Sega says that players who download the game at Epic Games Store within the first 24 hours of launch will get the game for free. That’s with no strings attached. It’s not, for instance, a limited-time free weekend.

According to developer Creative Assembly, the game “plunges players into the legendary Bronze Age conflict of the Trojan War.” Players assume the roles of Achilles, Hector, and many other legendary heroes. You can fight to defend the great city of Troy or raze it to the ground.

By the way, it’s worth noting that the PC exclusivity via the Epic Games Store is a one-year deal. A Total War Saga: Troy will become available on other digital PC storefronts, such as Steam, starting in August 2021.

In the meantime, be sure to check out a new trailer for the game below!
