Best Games Set in India

India is a culturally rich and beautiful land which is a perfect setting for a video game. Unfortunately, there aren’t that many games set in that wonderful country. Let’s look at five of the best games set in India. I tried to include games that are completely set in Indian landscapes and not games that have only a mission or two that are set in India. Hopefully, in the future, we’ll see more games set in India.

The list is not ranked in any particular order.

Raji: An Ancient Epic

Raji: An Ancient Epic

Raji: An Ancient Epic is a 2020 indie game that is set in ancient India. The game tells the story of the young girl Raji who has the blessings of the Gods. She is on the path to rescue her brother from the demons (Asuras). This game’s art style is very beautiful and the combat system is so good. The way the cutscenes play is very unique too. Do not miss this game! It’s so much fun and completely worth your time.

Far Cry 4

Far Cry 4

Many players consider Far Cry 4 to be one of the best entries of the franchise – for good reason. Besides the incredible gameplay, the setting of the game attracts so much attention. The game is set in a fictional country named Kyrat which lies hidden in the Himalayas. The game is absolutely beautiful, and this is probably the best location in a Far Cry game.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

In Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, you play as Chloe Frazer instead of the fan-favorite character Nathan Drake. That may sound discouraging to play but don’t skip Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Especially if you like Hindu mythology. It’s set in the present day where you explore the tombs and forests of India. There are lots of secrets and details in the game too. The graphics and art style are wonderful and the setting is the most appealing.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition Dynasties of India

“The Forgotten” andDynasties of India expansions add multiple campaigns to Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition in which you play as ancient Indians. In my opinion, these campaigns are some of the best in the game. There are all new buildings and units, and it emphasizes the rich lore and history of the Hindus. You should definitely get these expansion packs if you like ancient Indian civilizations.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles games are different from the usual AC games. These are 2.5D platformers and very linear. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India is the second game of the Chronicles series. The environment and art design are beautiful and it’s a great stealth game. While it does not have very high ratings, it’s still worth playing. Hopefully, in the future, there will be a proper Assassin’s Creed game set in India.
