The Juggernaut Edition is a revamped and improved version of the vanilla State of Decay 2. It is the best version there is to play. Many issues with the original were fixed and it now offers a stellar zombie-survival gaming experience. There is remastered content and new content altogether that will satisfy the craving for a good zombie game. There are survival simulation aspects as well, and it’s a realistic game. The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series

Best Zombie Games for Xbox One

Telltale’s The Walking Dead must definitely be a game series you’ve heard of by now. It’s an episodic zombie game where your choices matter. It’s basically an interactive movie-type game. From the first game to the last game, this series is an absolute rollercoaster ride and you won’t forget this experience anytime soon. While it doesn’t have many gameplay aspects, it’s replayable due to the number of various endings and hidden dialogue.

Dying Light

Dying Light is an absolute champion in the zombie-survival game genre thanks to its combat system and especially the parkour system. The story was decent and the joy of this game is exploring the abandoned and post-apocalyptic city of Harran while looking cool doing it. Just running around killing zombies grants you upgrades and XP, and it’s really rewarding to do everything there is to do in the game.

Dying Light: The Following is an expansion pack for the original game, and it’s as good as the original. It added vehicles for you to drive in. I highly recommend getting both of them.

Back 4 Blood

If you have played the brilliant Left 4 Dead games in the Xbox 360 era, Back 4 Blood will be a treat. While it has yet to gain the legendary status of Left 4 Dead 2, it’s still a solid co-op zombie-killing game. There are issues with it, sure. Being an online game, I’m sure every problem will be addressed sooner than later. The name itself should suggest that the previous developers of Left 4 Dead are the ones that made this.

Deadlight

If you have read any of my previous articles about post-apocalyptic games, you already know that I’m a huge fan of Deadlight as one of the worst video game universes to live in. While it does seem like a regular old zombie scroller game, there are a lot of differences that make this game so good. It has its issues, and unlike many other games like Dying Light or Left 4 Dead, it doesn’t have as many positive reviews. But the way the story is structured and how perfectly everything makes sense in the end is so satisfying. I really hope that readers will give this a try.

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

Undead Nightmare is a standalone expansion of the brilliant Red Dead Redemption. It has its own story campaign and memorable moments. It was a little unusual for a game as life-like as Red Dead Redemption to have a zombie expansion out of the blue but it worked, and it worked impeccably. Many of the story characters return. Don’t worry, this isn’t canonical, so if they die or anything, it doesn’t mean much.

Resident Evil 2

Best Zombie Games for Xbox One

Resident Evil 2 is an ambitious and very well-done remake of the classic PlayStation game of the same name. Released in 2019, it managed to win players’ hearts instantly and there are many that consider it to be their game of the year. It looks extremely good, and the slow and methodical gameplay of the original is still here but revamped and substantially improved. Of course, you must’ve noticed how it’s a third-person shooter now, instead of a shooter set in static environments. Overall, it’s truly a wonderful remake and it’s definitely worth playing.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War

Best Zombie Games for Xbox One

The Zombie Army series is a spin-off series of the popular Sniper Elite franchise. While the Sniper Elite games are about stealthily killing enemies in a slow manner, Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a bit faster-paced; it’s a really satisfying shooter. It’s set in the 1940s. Many enemies are zombified Nazis and other various creatures. For example, you can see a deadly and disgusting-looking shark trying to devour someone in the image. Overall, it’s a great third-person zombie shooter with satisfying mechanics.
