Scathe

Have you ever thought about a 3D bullet hell? Well, that’s Scathe.

Damage Statem in collaboration with Kwalee has released a new devlog today, displaying a bit more of what their upcoming game Scathe has to offer. It is a traditional adrenaline-fueled FPS with large firearms and even greater monsters that will be released this year on consoles and PC.

In this first devlog, Scathe‘s main programmer (Chris Dawson) discusses why they included the bullet-hell concept and how evading a hail of bullets increases the intensity of the FPS action.

A Doom-inspired FPS with a unique essence

Scathe is quite reminiscent of the Doom games to those who are unfamiliar with it. Players will take on the role of Scathe, the enforcer of hell’s troops formed from the soil by the Divine Creator himself.

However, this is no ordinary first-person shooter. You’ll see why from the first minute of gameplay. You must be prepared for a shooting hell in which you must dodge multiple waves of lethal gunfire. You’ll be able to avoid the strikes and escape uninjured if you use Scathe’s tremendous speed.

Scathe

Players must show their mettle by negotiating a tortuous maze interwoven with demonic evil at every turn, whether playing solo or through multiplayer crossplay. So grab your devil’s hammer, shut the door, and prepare to slaughter everything in sight.

Scathe is set to launch in 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
