Nintendo Switch Lite sold 2 million units in 10 days; Link’s Awakening tops 3M

If early sales figures are any indication, the recently-released Nintendo Switch Lite will be a massive success. The handheld-only Switch Lite sold 1.95 million units in its first 10 days at retail.

Those numbers are from Nintendo’s latest quarterly earnings report. And if you are wondering, that actually puts the system ahead of the Switch when it first launched back in 2017. In other words, Switch Lite is selling as if it’s an entirely new console launch, not just a new model.

Of course, the $199 price probably helped a lot and the fact that it launched alongside Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. It certainly doesn’t hurt to have a Zelda game help to lift hardware sales.

Speaking of Link’s Awakening, the game has sold 3.1 million copies globally since its launch in September. It’s also doing well with critics, averaging an 8.7 out of 10. In addition, Super Mario Maker 2 – which launched in June – has sold just short of 4 million copies.
