Sega Genesis action-platformer Phantom Gear reaches Kickstarter goal

Indie developer Mega Cat Studio announced today that their action-platformer Phantom Gear for the Sega Genesis has reached its crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter.

The developer hoped to raise $25,000 in order to finish the game and release a boxed physical edition. With nine days to go, they have already passed their goal and are currently just short of $27,000.

Phantom Gear takes inspiration from 8 and 16-bit classics like Mega Man X, Gunstar Heroes, and Castlevania. The game features skill progression, multiple weapons, “massive” boss fights, and animated cutscenes.

While the initial funding is secured, the stretch goals include funding for more bosses, stages, playable characters, and enemies. There are still nine days left to keep funding the game to achieve the next milestones.
