Sony: Microsoft is Copying Us

Gamers everywhere were a bit stunned and at the same time expectant when Sony announced at their E3 2006 Press Conference that the PS3 controller would use Wii-like motion sensing. The response from the press and gamers alike was overly critical of Sony as having “stolen” Nintendo’s Wii controller. Of course, Sony denies this, claiming they’ve been working on it since 1994.

Sony’s trying to shake popular perception with a new offensive. Kaz Hirai told the Official PlayStation Magazine that it is Microsoft’s Xbox 360 doing the copying, not Sony. “Every time we go down a path, we look behind and [Microsoft is] right there – we just can’t shake these guys,” Hirai said in the interview. “I wish that they would come up with some strategies of their own, but they seem to be going down the path of everything we do.”
