Tencent acquires minority stake in Bohemia Interactive
Bohemia Interactive announced today that Tencent has agreed to acquire a minority stake in the company.
According to the company, Bohemia Interactive will continue to operate independently with the same management team. However, the terms of the investment were not disclosed.
Bohemia has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. They have published games ranging from the Arma series to DayZ. Most recently, they launched the free-to-play shooter Vigor on PS4 and PS5.
Marek Španěl, CEO of Bohemia Interactive, released the following statement:
We are pleased to deepen our relationship with Tencent, one of the most significant internet companies in the world. We look forward to working on our current and future generations of games with the support of a strong partner that has known us for many years and understands our unique approach to online games.
Last year, Tencent bought Conan Exiles developer Funcom. And just last month, Tencent acquired a majority stake in Klei Entertainment, the makers of the survival game Don’t Starve.
