In this guide, you will learn what the Max Level of Elden Ring is and how to reach it quickly and efficiently. We will use many mechanics of the game to speed up the progress to reach the level.
The Maximum Character Level of Elden Ring
The max level of Elden Ring allows you to set each of the eight stats to 99. That’s the absolute maximum you can reach, and you’re basically a God in the game who can even surpass the legend of Lord Godfrey at that point. In order to cap each of these stats to 99, you will need to reach level 713.
So, level 713 is the maximum character level of Elden Ring. If you’re playing casually, at your own pace, this will take a very, very long time. That’s what I did and I’m still at level 200 after more than 220 hours of gameplay.
If you’re like me and like to take it slow, I have a couple of tips to efficiently level up your character in a more ‘natural’ way, if you will. That is, without excessive farming for hours. This is a balanced way of levelling your character, in my opinion.

A disclaimer is in order before we proceed to the levelling guide, however. Do not use a character that’s higher than level 200 in PVP for obvious reasons.
Also, some players recommend that not over-levelling your character in your first playthrough is a great way to maintain a good level of challenge throughout the game. That is, it might be a better experience for you if you don’t level your character more than, say, about 170 in New Game. However, you can go crazy with the levelling in New Game+.
Levelling your character in a slow-paced way
In this method, you will level your character with the ruins you earn while exploring the game and facing off against powerful foes. That is to say, you will do so without excessive farming.

I have only a few tips to give you about this way because it’s very self-explanatory.
- Trample the glowing skulls with Torrent when exploring the Lands Between.
- Seek and kill every mini-boss and powerful enemy in the game.
- Use the Gold Scarab Talisman and Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot to speed up the progress.
Levelling your character quickly and efficiently
In this method, you can quickly farm a ton of Runes and keep levelling your character effectively, and quickly.
We will use the popular farming location at Mohg’s Territory. Travel to the Palace Approach Ledge Road Site of Grace. You will be targeting the sleeping Albinaurics. Each of them will give you about 2000 Runes and a single run will take about 2 minutes.
There are a lot of enemies here that are great targets because they’re all sleeping. This method might upset Nepheli, but it’s still the best method.
Kill many Albinaurics, Rest at the Site of Grace, and repeat to your heart’s content.
Steps will speed up the process
Obtain the Golden Order Greatsword from the Cave of the Forlorn that’s able to kill many Albinaurics with a single use of its ranged Ash of War. Having it upgraded to the maximum level with Sombre Smithing Stones will also be quite helpful in dealing much more damage.
You will need to invest a few points in Faith to use this weapon, however. Using this weapon speeds up the progress substantially, so it is worth it.
Get the Gold Scarab Talisman from the Abandoned Cave in Caelid. This will boost your Rune acquisition by 20%. Be sure to read my guide on how to obtain the talisman.
Craft some Gold-Pickled Fowl Feet to boost your Rune Acquisition further by 30%. The effects of both the Talisman and this item will stack and give you a total of 50% boost in Rune Acquisition.
With all three of these steps, you will level up much, much faster than normal.
