We’re just a few months away from Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch. For fans of the franchise, it’s a good time to look back at Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the Nintendo 3DS. Animal Crossing: New Leaf brought all the life-simulating fun of the franchise to the 3DS handheld back in 2013. It came … Read more
Back at the launch of the Nintendo 3DS in 2011, the system experienced something of a drought of good games. AAA releases like Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 wouldn’t come out until the holidays. That left it up to titles like Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Star Fox 64 … Read more
You may not be as familiar with Atlus’s Shin Megami Tensei franchise as classic role-playing games like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or even Pokemon. It is high time for that to change. Heavily inspired by demonic lore, full of mythological beasts, geared toward the niche RPG fans – indeed, Shin Megami and its many spin-off … Read more
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is the series’ portable debut. As a fan of the series, I admittedly looked forward to Super Smash Bros. for 3DS more than most games. This is interesting when you consider the humble beginnings of the franchise. It may surprise you, but the original Super Smash Brothers was definitely not … Read more

Nintendo’s future strategy for its “Amiibo” product line seems to be getting clearer by the day: the interactive and highly-collectible figurines are here to stay, and more Amiibos are on the way in 2015. After enjoying the astounding success of the first waves of Amiibo figures in late 2014, Nintendo seems quite dedicated to the idea, and with good … Read more

Frankly, to re-cap yesterday’s Nintendo Direct is difficult, because so much was revealed: it almost felt like an E3 presser bundled into a brief presentation. Maybe you even spotted the upcoming “Wave 4” Amiibos, or the new Super Mario Edition lineup.
Just in case you missed anything, I will quickly tackle and summarize it all; I’d like to give a special thanks to Vlad N. for his contribution to this re-cap:

There was even a dedicated name for the community and “movement” pulling for the 3DS game – Operation Moonfall. For a while, it seemed … Read more
To reflect on the past year in video games, 2014 has been…to put it lightly, kind of a disappointment. As the first full year for the “new-gen” PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, I feel like both Sony and Microsoft could have come out a bit stronger. Nintendo’s hardware sales are still nothing to brag about … Read more

As he points out, the 3DS actually started off very poorly in 2014. The 3DS has been … Read more
